Shonna Foster is an award-winning director, producer, and storyteller.
She received her B.F.A honors degree in Theatre from York University, where she studied in the Creative Ensemble Conservatory. Since graduating, she has worked professionally as an artist, director, producer, and business professional for award-winning production and distribution companies.
Shonna made her directorial debut with the short film RESIDUE. She has also directed and produced branded content for various companies across the GTA, and has a number of producer credits on a variety of short films.
Passionate about volunteerism, community work, and encouraging the excellence of BIPOC talent, Shonna has mentored and taught workshops with Toronto-based organizations including Success Beyond Limits, Create and Believe, Youth Unlimited, and Reelworld Film Festival. She has also volunteered as a board member and assistant programmer with Regent Park Film Festival, Toronto Youth Short Film Festival, and Breakthroughs Film Festival. Currently, Shonna is a long-standing board member of BIPOC TV & Film, focusing on their youth and emerging talent Initiatives.
